Stone dead : a novel

Stone dead
The novel is based on the character Mitchell Stone, a detective with the NYPD who was born to a mother whose addiction consumed her life so that she did not have the time or the inclination to care for a child. From a young age Stone was neglected and abused while his mother used him to acquire the money she needed to support her addictions. He soon learned that stealing was a profitable way to provide for them both. It was not long before he was arrested for breaking and entering by a cop who had rehabilitation and the boy’s best interest at heart. He and his wife took Stone in, giving him a home, an education and a family. To show his appreciation to his adopted parents Stone did well in school and followed in his father’s footsteps becoming a police officer and later a detective with the Homicide Division. While working the case of a serial killer Stone crosses paths with Laura Love, an Assistant District Attorney who is on the short list of those who the killer has targeted. Stone is chosen to protect her and it is not long before he falls in love with her. Unfortunately, his love for her has left him distracted and it might cost Laura her life.
